Amy Winehouse Challenges To Alicia Keys

Apparently Amy Winehouse is miffed that she got passed over for Alicia Keys and Jack White to record the theme for the next James Bond film Quantum of Solace. The UK singer spoke of the moviemakers decision to Britain’s New Magazine:

"I do think they could have waited a bit. If they want a worldwide hit I have them all up here,” Winehouse said, pointing to her beehive. “I guess they are going for clean-cut and boring. When I do release mine and I am tempted to do it on the same day - this would be the bigger hit. If they change their minds I’m waiting!"

Looks like the alleged wretched whore might be a winner because I'm hearing that Lisa Raye is out of there. After all the speculation it seems that Michael Misick, Premier of the Turks & Caicos Islands has issued a statement about the future of his marriage.
Yesterday the NY Post's infamous Page Six reported that after all the speculation regarding the future of Lisa Raye and Michael Misick's marriage that she was in fact moving back into the mansion to give their marriage another try.

But it looks like that isn't the case as I just got a statement emailed to me claiming that their marriage is over. Here's the statement:
August 12, 2008 – Today Michael Misick, Premier of the Turks & Caicos Islands issued the following statement:

“I am announcing that I am separated from LisaRaye McCoy-Misick. I am committed to dissolving the marriage amicably.

I believe that this is a private matter and will have no further comments. I hope that our privacy will be respected”

New Music: Jockin' Jay Z

With Jay-Z currently hard at work on his forthcoming LP 'The Blueprint 3', the studio version of 'Jockin' Jay-Z' (a cut from the album) has surfaced. Some of you may remember, Jay recently performed the Kanye West produced track at a show in New York's Madison Squared Garden. Having heard the song (which samples Run DMC) in its entirety, I must say I'm liking this one a lot. I can't wait for 'The Blueprint 3'.

Usher To Do Free Concert NY

Usher will be helping to kick-off the NFL season next month with a free concert in New York City.

According to Billboard, the multi-platinum selling singer is teaming up with country music sensation Keith Urban to perform in Columbus Circle. The televised event will be shown throughout NFL programs including the NFL Network, NFL.com, Sprint’s NFL Mobile Live and broadcast on NBC the following day.

Following the spectacle, the season’s opener will feature the Super Bowl champion New York Giants facing off the Washington Redskins at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The annual NFL Kickoff concert previously featured performances by Keyshia Cole, Kelly Clarkson, John Mellencamp, Faith Hill, and others.

The performance is currently scheduled for Thursday, September 4 in mid-town Manhattan.

Sean Paul Gets Locked For "Burning Yall"

Sean Paul was recently taken in to police custody in Sweden after he was suspected of carrying drugs at a popular festival.

According to TMZ, the Grammy-winning entertainer attended last weekend’s Uppsala Reggae Festival in Sweden where he and around 200 to 300 other attendees were forced to the local police station on drug-related charges.

While details are still scarce, reports claim that there were at least ten other well-known performers brought in for questioning before being freed to leave the station.

As of now, authorities estimate that it will take close to an entire month for results to come in to verify if the alleged drugs were in deed narcotics.

Both Paul and his management were unavailable for comment at press time.

Known as one of the largest reggae concerts in Europe, this year’s performance featured popular artists including Beenie Man, Junior Reid, Massive B and many others.

Mike Jones & Trae The Truth Come To Blows

On the last day of the of the TJs DJs/Ozone Awards weekend an altercation took place during the 2008 Awards between Houston rappers Mike Jones and Trae the Truth.

As artists and media congregated in the press area, a commotion broke out and by the time everyone made it to the hallway, Jones was being pulled back while security rushed to the scene.

Shortly afterwards, Jones appeared on Houston's 102 JAMZ to discuss the incident.

"It just really was a publicity stunt," Jones explained. "Everybody seen that it was the perfect time to do this. They don't have to pay for advertisements and promotion so he did that. Dude came and shook my hand and I guess he's mad because I call myself the president - because I am the president of H-Town, I run this city."

Rumor Control: Lil Wayne's Daughter Is Alive!!!!

There are unconfirmed rumors that Lil’ Wayne’s daughter died in a tragic car accident last evening. The following note, allegedly from Lil’ Wayne’s sister, was posted on Yahoo’s Answers:

“Thanx to all of u who are genuinely concerned about the recent report of Reginae being killed in a car accident. It means a lot to our family to know that so many of u care (calls have been coming in to our family all day & are continuing to do so). I am pleased to inform u that this report is FALSE!! L'OREAL Says No, No, No, No

Despite the controversy that has ensued regarding Beyonce's unrecognisable ad for L'Oréal, the French cosmetics giant have denied altering the shot:

"We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L'Oréal Paris altered Ms. Knowles' features or skin-tone in the campaign for Feria's hair color."

A rep for the 27-year-old Knowles declined to comment beyond the L'Oréal statement.

The ad is appearing in this month's Elle, Allure and Essence. So far the magazines have not said anything about possible Pantone issues.

LL Cool J: "I Didn't Want To Be 51 Cent

Preparing for his final album release, Exit 13, legendary rapper LL Cool J sat down with SOHH to talk about fellow Queens, NY superstar 50 Cent’s impact on the project, difficulty in deciding which records to use and admitting he “didn’t want to be 51 Cent.”

LL cleared up initial rumors about his last Def Jam release being exclusively produced by the G-Unit leader but did admit they recorded an entire album’s worth of music.

“50 is not executive producing the whole album be we did a whole album together and I used like four or five songs,” he told SOHH. “I didn’t want to be ‘51 Cent.’ I want to make sure that I was giving them L. God knows that last thing I needed to do is wait ‘til my 13th album and play son-son and all that.”

Promising the decision to trim his selection down to single digits from the multi-platinum selling rapper was based on artistic purposes; the G.O.A.T. confessed his selections were carefully chosen.

“I love my man, he’s extremely talented and the music that we worked on together was hot,” he explained. “It’s just I made sure that I selected records that I felt had my voice and spoke from my heart.”

Continuing to give 50 props for his dedication to the project, LL detailed the coaching he received from him.

“I’m in there with 50 and I’m watching him and he’s writing choruses and giving me ideas for songs and telling me I should rap like this,” he added. “We sitting in there and I’m writing and he’s telling me, ‘Yo you should say it like this’.” LL went on to say that the process “was a lot of fun” and concluded by confessing 50 “got me amped up and you know once I get a battery in my back I go crazy.”

Exit 13 is currently scheduled to hit stores September 9th on Def Jam Records.

Yung Berg was busted early yesterday morning in New York City after police investigated a complaint by a limo driver. Sources say a limo driver reported a dispute with five passengers, and when police investigated the complaint, they busted Berg and his buddies on a pile of charges. Cops say Berg, real name Christian Ward, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana and menacing.

Joe: R. Kelly Tried To Sabotage My Career

R&B crooner Joe, seemingly, out of nowhere has taken aim at R. Kelly, blaming the singer for trying to ruin his career. Check out the report via Contact Music below:

Joe has accused R. KELLY of pressuring radio DJs not to play his records - in a bid to scupper his growing stardom.The Stutter singer released six albums with Jive Records over an 11 year period, but left the label earlier this year (08) after the company pushed back the release of his 2007 LP, Ain't Nothin Like Me, several times.

And the Grammy-winning star believes his rival labelmate Kelly was to blame, insisting he would call Jive bosses and radio stations and urge them not to promote the singer too strongly.

Joe says, "R. Kelly was very instrumental in making a lot of decisions when it came to my records being played on the radio."He would make a call to the radio station or to the label and say, 'Hey, this Joe record is too hot right now. Y'all (sic) need to pull that back.' And they would oblige. It's incredible that now I get the opportunity to, I don't know, maybe pay (R. Kelly) back in some sort of side bar kind of thing."

And Joe, who left Jive to release his forthcoming LP New Man through Kedar Entertainment Group, insists he is still a prevalent musician despite R. Kelly's alleged intervention.

He says, "I'm still very relevant in the game. But yeah, he did try to make some decisions when it came down to my records being on fire, and climbing up the charts and on the radio stations. He felt like they should pull back because he felt he was more important. And with their loyalty to him, they obliged."

During his headlining set on the Glow In The Dark's NYC tour stop, rapper Kanye West condemned homophobia, urging people to 'open their minds':

"Open your fucking minds. Open your minds. Be accepting of different people and let people be who they are. You know how many people came to me calling me gay cause I wear my jeans the fresh way? Or because I said hey, dude, how you gonna say 'fag' right in front of a gay dude's face and act like that's ok. That shit is disrespectful. Coming from Chicago, where if you saw somebody that was gay you were supppoed to stay ten feet away. You Can't Trust Nobody! Rick Ross' Sister Confirms Rapper's Former Occupation

One of Rick Ross' sister has confirmed that her brother was a former correctional officer. According to Blogger, Sandra Rose, his sister attended his community event-Be Out Day, in Miami. Speaking through a source, she verified Ross' past employment as a Correctional Officer for the state of Florida in the late 90's.

When asked why Ross continues to flat out lie about being a prison guard, the source who is close to Ross' said "I think he's so caught up in the persona he built for himself , that he really might believe he wasn't a corrections officer.

The source also revealed that he isn't as hard as he appears to be (I, Kelson do know that for a fact. He a cool dude). The source said they are all fake: Plies, Flo-Rida, Ross-none of them are real gangsters.

Usher: Mommy! Help Me, I Need You!

Fifteen months after Usher fired his mother as his manager, the singer has dumped her replacement, Benny Medina, and brought his mom back into the fold to steer his career.

In a short statement issued by his LaFace/Zomba label Wednesday, it was announced that the artist "has dissolved his management arrangement with Benny Medina and has re-engaged Jonnetta Patton as his manager."

Last month, the New York Daily News quoted sources who said Usher was unhappy with Medina's handling of his current album, "Here I Stand," which sold 433,000 copies in its first week compared to the 1.1 million copies of his last album, "Confessions," during its opening week in 2004.

"People have been telling Usher to listen to his mother," a source told the Daily News at the time. "Nobody knows how to sell him better than she does."

Meanwhile, the singer has also cut ties with W&W Public Relations, a publicity firm that also serves as the official reps for Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys and Ludacris.

Kels Sidebar: Maybe he should have listened to his mom when she wasn't down with him marrying Tameka? Maybe she'll be the next to have her ties cut with him? I'm just saying..

Mary J Blige Sued for $2 Million

A $2 million federal lawsuit against Mary J. Blige claims a song on her current album, "Growing Pains," used a track without permission.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Manhattan Federal Court says producer Theron (NEEF-U) Feemster wrote the music for Blige's song "Work That," but the track is owned by Dream Family Entertainment Inc.

The court filing claims the New York-based firm never gave Blige, Feemster or Geffen Records, the distributor, rights to use the song, which was also used in a nationwide commercial for Apple's iPod.

"Mr. Feemster created the music while he was under contract with Dream Family. Dream Family then owned the music, yet the music was used without permission in a Mary J. Blige release recording," said Dream lawyer Brian Caplan, according to the New York Daily News. "It was released as an album, a single and in a commercial."

Rights to the lyrics of the song are not in question. Caplan said it was unclear if Blige knew the music belonged to someone other than Feemster, and said the producer "had no rights to the music he used."

R.I.P. Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes

This weekend has been a hard weekend for fans of comedian Bernie Mac, and soul-man Issac Hayes.

Starting off Saturday morning, reports came that stand-up comedian-turned-actor Bernie Mac has died of complications due to pneumonia. The 50-year-old had been hospitalized since mid-July but had been expected to recover. Mac had been active in Hollywood for nearly two decades, with a slate of stand-out roles in such films as the “Ocean’s Eleven” trilogy, “Bad Santa” and last year’s “Transformers.” He was also well-known for his Peabody-winning television series “The Bernie Mac Show.” Most recently, he had been working on a variety of current projects, including Samuel L. Jackson’s “Soul Men” and the comedy “Old Dogs” alongside John Travolta and Robin Williams.

Bernie Mac was one of "The Original Kings of Comedy" in the 2000 documentary of that title that brought a new generation of black stand-up comedy stars to a wider audience.

Fans and friends of Chicago comedian Bernie Mac, are invited to a public memorial celebrating Mac's life.Services are scheduled for noon Saturday in the 10,000-seat House of Hope, 752 E. 114th St., Chicago, said Danica Smith, Mac's publicist. Donations in Mac's honor may be sent to the Bernie Mac Foundation for Sarcoidosis, 40 E. 9th St., Suite 601, Chicago, IL 60605, Smith said.

And in sadder news, Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.

Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said. No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.

Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.

Here we go again. Another chick is claiming another superstar knocked her up and is her baby’s daddy. the newest allegation is against Chris Brown. A 19 year old woman names Michelle Gasper called in to a Tappahannock, VA radio station (Chris’ hometown) a few days ago to spill the beans abut how allegedly he is the father of her 4 year old (yes–4 year old) son. She even claims Chris and his mother Joyce have been payign her silence money since Day 1. Peep the whole story:

A Local Virginia native, Michelle Gasper, a 19 year old from Tappahannock, Virginia called her local radio station Saturday morning claiming that singer Chris Brown and herself had been in a relationship for over 2 years before he signed a record deal, and released his self-titled debut album in 2005. She claimed that the two first started dating in 2003, when they were both only 14 years old. Gasper claims that the two engaged in unprotected sex numerous times, and she had agreed with Brown to acquire in an abortion before later giving birth to her now 4 year old son, Deshante Gasper in July 2004. Gasper also claimed that her relationship with Brown had persisted well during the time he first signed a record deal with the label, Jive Records in late 2004, but his mother, Joyce Hopkins insisted that he ended the relationship with Gasper, having the fear of the public knowing of him being the father of a child, which she thought would tarnish his future music career.Gasper cried hysterically over the Essex County radio station implying that she wanted Brown to be in their 4 year old son’s life. The radio DJ, Maurice Hendricks questioned the truthfulness of Gasper’s allegations asking her why she would choose to speak out so many years later. She then replied in saying that Brown’s mother, Joyce Hopkins had been sending her money for several years to help with her son, Deshante and to also remain silent about the situation. Gasper insisted that Brown needed to play a more fatherly role in their son’s life since he was getting older, and had begun to ask questions about his father’s existence. Gasper remained on air for about 15 minutes while Hendricks continued to try to keep her calm. So far, there has been no comment from Brown’s publicist concerning these allegations.
