Pharrell: "Where's The Talent" In The Industry?

BET announced yesterday that Jay-Z will be added to the lineup of performers for the June 28 BET Awards.

Jay Z joins his wife Beyonce, as well as Kanye West, the Dream, Maxwell, Ne-Yo and others on the performance roster. Queen Latifah will also host an afterparty broadcast immediately following the live ceremony.

He recently stopped by The Angie Martinez show on Hot 97 and announced that he is planning a concert to celebrate his upcoming album "Blueprint 3" on the Sept. 11 date of its release.

“It’s the date the first one came out and it was a horrible date in our history. I have a wonderful idea for a show, proceeds are gonna go to charity. You know, just bring it full circle. I have a historic venue in mind, I’m gonna bring some artists out. It’s gonna be big.”

He also talked about what is up with him NOT cutting his hair (a question we've all wondered what in the hell was going on).

“When I make music, I normally don’t cut my hair,” Jay explained “I started [working on Blueprint 3] last year and it’s getting really bad. It’s terrible. But I think for the art, I can live with it. A lot of girls kind of like,” he added, joking. “So I’m trying to hold onto it. I’m trying to elongate the album.”

Over the weekend, Usher was seen bringing a woman out of his Los Angeles hotel room at one o’clock in the morning. Usher’s people claim that it was just a business meeting and the woman was just Usher’s “product manager.”

According to sources the woman in question is a 42 year old Def Jam executive named Grace Miguel who is married to video production company owner, Lou Miguel of Box Fresh Films.

That’s odd because Usher’s label is Arista, not Def Jam. So was he creeping on Tameka or planning to bounce from his label??? Insiders say that they are officially over and that Usher plans to file for separation in the coming days.

Usher REALLY has this thing for older women. My rule for dating cougars, PLEASE let them be cute. Hell, thats my rule for dating anyone. Maybe it's the glasses that not showing her best?

Addressing Jay a bit more directly, Webstar did not hold back his reactions towards the rap mogul's Blueprint 3 single.

Kelis Blast Cheaters On Twitter...

Now even though Nas name wasn't mentioned in her Twitter-rage, we cant act like Nas wasn't the "elephant in the room"!

The ugliness continues in the very public break-up between hip-hop power couple Nas and Kelis.

Just this week, Kelis took to Twitter for a few posts where she put "scumbag coward husbands" and "less than impressive sluts" on blast.

In an update posted on Thursday (June 4), she goes off. While she never mentions Nas by name, the singer seems to imply that the rapper is one of the cheaters she is addressing.

As reported by Rap-Up.com, here's a few things Kelis had to say:"This lovely day I would like to touch on cheaters. ... Why be cowardly, why not go after what you really want? Do people know what they want? Probably not, which just goes into know and respecting one's self."

"Also we can discuss whores, I mean the nasty, sub-par tricks that participate in the cheating. Well let me say this, both parties are gross. And in reality they deserve each other."

As mentioned, Nas is rumored to have cheated on Kelis, ultimately resulting in the singer filing for divorce. She says he can "go down in flames".

"All the scumbag coward husbands and the less than impressive sluts unite! You can all go down in flames together! Hooray! Who's disgusted and bitter? LOL, not I said the cat! Wink wink."
"No seriously I have no [patience] for any of it, but the problem is women usually blame the women. I am here to say the husband is way more at fault. Now of course the woman/women who partake are stupid and pitiful. And honestly I will say it's expected from younger girls 23 and under."

Later, she calls for women to step up to the plate.

Drake Threatens To Sue Over Unauthorized Album Release

Drake is reportedly seeking legal action after an unauthorized compilation album featuring his music was released for sale via iTunes late last month.

The retail project contains various cuts from his popular mixtape So Far Gone.

An unauthorized album called The Girls Love Drake, which features selections from the Toronto rapper's mixtape and other tracks, was released May 28th by a label called Canadian Money Entertainment and distributed by the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) on iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon. Drake's camp, which is still trying to clear the samples on So Far Gone and his two other mixtapes in hopes of selling them in stores, says it didn't authorize the release. If it hadn't been disqualified on the grounds that it wasn't confirmed as being an official album, The Girls Love Drake would have debuted this week at No. 101 on the Billboard 200, No. 16 on the Digital Albums chart and No. 1 on the Heatseekers tally.

Drake's manager, Al Branch, has addressed the album's national release.

"This is a straight bootleg, a scandal. We are behind promoting records at radio, but haven't sold it," Branch said in a statement. "iTunes position is that they are a store and they stock everything. They have a waiver and as long as people sign it and are responsible for the product they submit, then they go for it."

Unfortunately, Hov couldn't top 'Forbes Celebrity 100 list, but he did come in at number 1 on Source magazine's 'Power 30'.


Jay-Z is ranked No. 1 on Source magazine's new Power 30 list, which honors the top 30 power players in hip hop culture, business, politics, entertainment and lifestyle. The publication says Jigga rules the roost because he's an industry leader and a top businessman - with ventures including Live Nation, his clothing line Rocawear, and his part-ownership of the New Jersey Nets. Other Power 30 list-makers include Diddy, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, T-Pain and Kimora Lee Simmons. President Barack Obama also made the list because of his influence on the new hip-hop generation.

As Amerie readies the release of her Def Jam debut 'In Love & War' (due August), it has been revealed in a new Billboard article about the project that the label's head LA Reid was about to drop her just last month! Check out the report below:

After a two-year hiatus, singer/songwriter Amerie has announced the release of her Def Jam debut, "In Love & War," which will be available in August. The lead single, "Why R U," will be serviced June 15th, with an accompanying video directed by Ray Kay (The-Dream, Lady Gaga) premiering June 8th on BET.

Producers on the album include Teddy Riley, Sean Garrett, Eric Hudson, Jim Jonsin, Rico Love and The Buchanans, who helmed the first single -- the track that allegedly made Def Jam labelhead Antonio "L.A." Reid reconsider dropping Amerie from the label just last month. So far, no collaborations have been announced.

Amerie might wanna ask Janet Jackson,Jermaine Dupri, and Shakir Stewart (may he R.I.P) how things happen when LA Reid don't get what he wants.
