TMZ has obtained a federal tax lien filed last month against Nas for a whopping $2,584,206.31. Looks like Nas didn't pay his taxes in 2006 and 2007. Nas is currently involved in a bitter divorce battle with Kelis. Looks like she'll have to wait in line. (TMZ)

Urban Quickies: Method Man Turns Himself In For Tax Evasion; Nas Takes On Media

Well, looks like we may have to put some dinero on Clifford's books....and I'm not talking about Clifford Harris (T.I.)!

Clifford Smith, better known as rapper “Method Man,” was arrested on tax evasion charges. Meth surrendered himself to the NYPD Detective Squad of the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office around 8am this morning, District Attorney Danield Donovan, Jr. and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Acting Commissioner Jamie Woodward announced.

Reportedly, Method Man is alleged to have failed to pay $32,799.00 in personal income taxes dating back to 2004.


Nas recently addressed the media's suggestion that his violent songs encourage teenage violence and said he has no plans to change his lyrical content.



I'm just mad that they were asking him about his damn song lyrics! He was NOT there to talk about that. He was there to talk about his 'open letter' about the Derrion Albert situation!

Nas To Be Named The Next President At Def Jam?

After rumors surfaced that Nas was offered the President spot over at Def Jam, the truth is finally out!

During a recent TVBlog, Nas talks about the offer.

"Yes and no," Nas said about being offered the presidency. "I don't know what's in store for the future. I'm happy to do whatever makes sense. I would love to add on and help hip-hop, I feel Def Jam is a great label for hip-hop music but I feel they could be doing a lot more for hip-hop, that's what it's about. Obviously people they have, have their own agendas and own direction and I respect that too. I think I can add on but I don't know, at this point and time, I'm just taking it day-by-day, I'm not getting too caught up into all of that."

In related news, Nas said that he is scared to put out any new music at this time!

Speaking at the Orange Rock Corps event in London Nas revealed:

“This is a record that right now I’m scared of making y’know cos, I don’t know what’s gonna happen as far as I don’t know what I’m gonna say. I feel like I’ve put so much of my personal life out there. I feel like I’m one of the guys you don’t really hear about him on paparazzi/fan magazines all the time. But (now) I just feel like my life is so much out there that it’s kinda like, man, I don’t even know how to put it in words how I feel about putting this record together. I’m a little nervous to tell you the truth, that’s all I can say.”

Asked directly if he was nervous about his personal life being publicised the rapper said:

“Yeah a little bit of that and a little bit of I wanna do so well, I don’t wanna let people down and I definitely want to put out something that is true to me. Maybe people think I’m tripping out, but it’s not the case, I really have to be in the right head space so hopefully I’ll get it done and it’ll come out soon.”

Nas & Kelis Are Back Together???

The folks over at Global Grind are reporting that Nas and Kelis are back together....or maybe, just for one-night only?


After the divorce back in April, and after it being reported that Nas was ordered to pay approximately 55,000 per month-we thought it was all over. But over the weekend, Nas was spotted out at Club Marquee in New York...celebrating his birthday in the same club as his ex-wife Kelis. A very well known, very reliable event planner from NYC… posted a tweet that read : “shout out to : Nas , Thomas Jones, Venus, clighty, Kelis etc. etc.”

Now, do you really think it was 'Cheaper To Keep Her' (In my opinion, hell yea) or is it a case of 'True Love Never Dies'.

Kelis just hit the jackpot in court today -- a judge awarded her a ton of money in her bitter divorce battle with estranged hubby Nas.

A judge decided Nas has to pay Kelis $55,000 a month in combined spousal and child support -- plus the mortgage on their L.A. residence.

Nas also has to pay Kelis -- who gave birth last night to the couple's only child -- for the baby nurse, prenatal expenses and medical insurance.

The rapper also has to pay $35,000 to his worst nightmare -- Kelis' lawyer, disso-queen Laura Wasser.

Kelis Delivers Knight, Solo!

Kelis has delivered a healthy baby boy without Nas. Word is that Nas was not allowed to be present for the birth of his son.

“Nas is in New York City today, anxiously awaiting the arrival of his son. It was his intention to be there for the birth, but unfortunately he has not been allowed to be present,” a source close to the rapper told AllHipHop.com. “While this is clearly heartbreaking to him, Nas continues to offer his support and love to his new baby boy and his mother.”

Kelis was on her way to court when she went into labor.

Nas has filed legal papers to counter allegations made by his estranged wife Kelis that he is rolling in money but unwilling to share.

The rapper says he's paid her more than she claimed in court papers, and that he earns less than she contends, according to Nas' filing, uncovered by TMZ.com.

Kelis filed papers alleging Nas pocketed $11 million for his album deal. Nas counters in his new filing, "I did not receive even half that amount"... claiming it's more in the neighborhood of $4 million.

Nas also claims his income is declining, and he's only pulling in $147,165 a month. He says his expenses total $71,371.96 a month, which includes $10,000 in clothing, hair, toiletries and personal effects.

Kelis, who is about to give birth to their child, claims Nas hasn't paid a penny for child or spousal support since he left her. Nas, who says he wants to be "fully involved" in the parenting of their child, claims he's agreed to pay $350 for a stroller, $450 for a baby sling and $1,598 for two cribs.

Nas also said he believes $5,000 per month in child support is reasonable since the baby will just be a newborn.

Details Emerge In Nas/Kelis Divorce

I was feeling some kind of way when I heard that the couple had filed for Divorce, then this morning more "details" come out about why the split-Gee Weez!!!

In an interview with Angela Yee's Shade 45 satellite radio show, former XXL editor-in-chief Elliott Wilson revealed some news about the relationship, revealing that the pair got into an argument last week and that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

"The final straw went down last Friday when they had a disagreement, and they haven't seen each other since to my knowledge," said Wilson, who now heads RapRadar.com where he broke the news.As the interview continued, more info was revealed.

On the women Nas was cheating on his pregnant wife with:

"She had found a certain young lady's photos and inappropriate text, correspondence between a certain young lady on the side ... I don't believe it's a famous woman. I believe it's a black chick from Virginia who may be a promoter of some sort, but definitely not a famous chick.."

On the verbal abuse allegations:

"The biggest issue I heard is a lot of him just talking to her crazy...besides physicaly abusive they can be verbally abusive...A lot of the drama I'm hearing had to do with that aspect too."

On the breaking point:

"To find out your man's cheating on you when your seven months pregnant in a blatant way makes Kelis feel like this is the breaking point and she's calling the lawyer."

Kels Sidebar: It is sooooo typical how they want to put it on the guy! Whatever!!!! What about the alleged sex tape that was going around a few months ago? I guess that was Nas too, huh?

Nas & Kelis File For Divorce

This news was kinda disturbing to me. I thought out of all the Hip Hop couples, these two would be together until the end. I guess Nas couldn't deal with the sex tape of Kelis sexing that other dude. I know at first they said it was "rumored", but I guess the Truth Lies Beneath.
