Lil Wayne Says Goodbye To His Fans

Early Wednesday morning, Lil Wayne spent nearly an hour saying farewell to his fans in a live streaming video. He is expected to turn himself in on Wednesday afternoon in New York after his formal sentencing and begin his year-long jail term stemming from his July 2007 arrest on gun-possession charges. After a night of apparently recording in the studio, got on the Ustream page of Lil' Twist, an artist in his Young Money camp, and said goodbye.(MTV)

Lil Wayne Covers 'Rolling Stone'; Talks Upcoming Jail Time

Just days before Lil Wayne is set to go behind bars for 12 months, he is featured on Rolling Stone magazine.



On February 9th, February 9th, Lil Wayne will have to report to prison to serve a sentence for gun possession stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York City. With just a few days left, Lil Wayne is busy setting things up to keep his family, his artist, and his image so that he stays on his fan's mind.

In the Rolling Stone issue that hit newsstands today, Lil Wayne talks about his undying hustle, the new album, his family, and his look on his prison stint.

“I don’t like to stop,” Wayne tells RS‘ Chris Norris. “I believe you stop when you die.”

So in the weeks before he reports to Rikers Island, Wayne is keeping busy — recording tracks bound for Tha Carter IV (the album Cash Money staffers call “C4″ because it’ll be the bomb), shooting videos with his Young Money protégés, spending time with his growing family, and deliberately not asking anyone for advice about life on the inside.

“This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody I can talk to can tell me what that’s like,” he says. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.”

Wayne's manager, Cortez Bryant, revealed that while he is doing his bid, his label is relocating to New York to be near him, and his manager Cortez Bryant is exploring ways to keep Wayne in his fans’ minds for the duration — from jailhouse Twitter accounts to endorsements.

“I’ll have an iPod, and I”ll make sure they keep sending me beats,” Lil Wayne says.

Tha Carter IV — which Norris is told features tougher, faster beats — is scheduled to arrive shortly after he gets out.

New York is known for having extremely tough gun laws — Wayne is expecting to get 1-year behind bars.







Wayne’s troubles are far from over.

The rapper still faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona … after cops found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy, various drug paraphernalia and a handgun on his tour bus during a traffic stop in Yuma County back in 2008.

Wayne pled not guilty to those charges — his trial is set for March of 2010.(TMZ)

Police say rapper Soulja Boy was charged with obstruction after telling officers that people gathered at an abandoned Georgia house were shooting a music video.

Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton said Friday that when officers arrived Wednesday night to investigate complaints, almost half of the 40 people assembled fled by foot. Later, a man identified as DeAndre Cortez Way, Soulja Boy's real name, returned and said the group was shooting a video.

The 19-year-old was charged with obstruction and bonded out of the Henry County jail on Thursday. A telephone call to his publicist was not immediately returned.

The rapper started an Internet dance craze several years ago with the hit "Crank That (Soulja Boy)." More recent hits include "Kiss Me Thru the Phone." (Associated Press)

Da Brat Still Rocking The Crowd Behind Bars

Although she's in an ATL prison, serving a three-year sentence for assault, Da Brat is trying to be productive.

DaBrat is reportedly organizing a talent show for her fellow inmates called "Showtime at Alto," named after the prison, Alto Federal State Prison.

Brat's program will be based on New York City's Showtime at the Apollo series, allowing inmates to showcase their talents to their peers. She's even reached out to her longtime friend, DJ Nabs, to provide the music for the event.

Brat hopes that prison officials will turn her idea into an annual event.
