Lil Wayne Covers 'Rolling Stone'; Talks Upcoming Jail Time

Just days before Lil Wayne is set to go behind bars for 12 months, he is featured on Rolling Stone magazine.



On February 9th, February 9th, Lil Wayne will have to report to prison to serve a sentence for gun possession stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York City. With just a few days left, Lil Wayne is busy setting things up to keep his family, his artist, and his image so that he stays on his fan's mind.

In the Rolling Stone issue that hit newsstands today, Lil Wayne talks about his undying hustle, the new album, his family, and his look on his prison stint.

“I don’t like to stop,” Wayne tells RS‘ Chris Norris. “I believe you stop when you die.”

So in the weeks before he reports to Rikers Island, Wayne is keeping busy — recording tracks bound for Tha Carter IV (the album Cash Money staffers call “C4″ because it’ll be the bomb), shooting videos with his Young Money protégés, spending time with his growing family, and deliberately not asking anyone for advice about life on the inside.

“This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody I can talk to can tell me what that’s like,” he says. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.”

Wayne's manager, Cortez Bryant, revealed that while he is doing his bid, his label is relocating to New York to be near him, and his manager Cortez Bryant is exploring ways to keep Wayne in his fans’ minds for the duration — from jailhouse Twitter accounts to endorsements.

“I’ll have an iPod, and I”ll make sure they keep sending me beats,” Lil Wayne says.

Tha Carter IV — which Norris is told features tougher, faster beats — is scheduled to arrive shortly after he gets out.

According to the streets, Angel and Soulja Boy hit it off a couple of months ago and got lil man SPRUNG!!! Dude was apparently trickin’ on her heavy and even got a tat of her lips on his neck.

Of all people for shorty to get knocked up by-DeAndre? Whattt??? Then, that's an EPIC Fail for him-she wear butt pads and get injections...I guess!

Lil Wayne's Brush With Death

In a recent issue of Rolling Stone magazine Lil Wayne provides an anecdote of how he almost died after shooting himself in the chest fifteen years ago.

However, Reporter Ramon Antonio Vargas of the Times Picayune interviewed the New Orleans officer who saved Lil Wayne’s life and provided a more in-depth account of that fateful day in 1994.

Robert Hoobler, 6-Ft 7inches tall and over 300 lbs, was off-duty when he heard the emergency call and drove his squad car to the scene.

According to police records, 12-year-old Dwayne Carter Jr. left school early because it was report card day. He bought a hamburger, fries and soft drink from Burger King on his way home to 3409 Monroe St., Apartment D. He sat on the mattress in the master bedroom and began eating. But he stopped when he noticed a blue-steel Taurus 9 mm handgun.

The pistol had been left there the previous day, by a man who came over to watch a football game.

Little Dwayne picked up the gun and began horsing around with it in front of a stereo blaring music. At about 1:15 p.m., the boy accidentally fired a bullet through his chest. The slug then shot out the lower left corner of a window.

Somehow, it missed every vital organ. But the boy was dying.

LIL WAYNE COVERS ROLLING STONE

Lil Wayne is on the cover of the April 2009 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. In the magazine the rapper speaks about his Rock album, waking up with three or four women in bed with him and not knowing their names and more.

Describing a wild night when he woke up in bed with three or four women he couldn’t name, Wayne reveals he had an epiphany. “I just got — I’m not going to say ’so good’ at what I was doing, but it became such a regularity for me that I got tired of it. And then I said, ‘You know what? I’m not going to rap on this one.’”

On the cover of the April issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Lil Wayne can be seen shirtless with a black dress hat on with the title “Lil Wayne Goes Rock - Rap’s Genius Changes His Name.”

This Rolling Stone magazine which features Lil Wayne on the cover, hits newsstands this week.
