BET Calls On Diddy, Queen Latifah, and more For Haiti Telethon

BET is continuing their effort to help raise funds for Haiti!

BET has just announced their telethon for next month. Ciara, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, and Pharrell are just some of the artists scheduled to participate in “S.O.S.: Saving OurSelves-Help For Haiti”

Queen Latifah and Sean “Diddy” Combs will co-host “S.O.S. Saving OurSelves: Help for Haiti,” a three-hour televised concert from the American Airlines Arena in Miami on February 5. The fundraising event will include appearances and performances by Ludacris, Justin Bieber, Robin Thicke, and many more.

“The devastation that has occurred in Haiti has broken my heart. My hope is that we can raise enough money to sustain a few of the relief organizations for quite some time as there is a lot of work to be done over there,” stated Pharrell in a press release. “The goal is not only to bring immediate relief to Haiti but to also rebuild the country and help the country move forward.”

The program will air on BET and Centric, as well as MTV and VH1, on Friday, February 5, at 8 p.m. ET. The proceeds will benefit Haiti relief organizations including Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti, CARE, and Project Medishare.

BET 106 & Park Tour Stops In Bmore!

Last night, BET's 106 & Park tour stopped in Baltimore at Sonar. It was supposed to be performances from Day26, Trey Songz, and Mario! Just hours before the show was supposed to go on, I got the call that would upset the fans---the call that Mario would NOT be performing for his hometown. Mario had got sick, and lost his voice!
Either way, the show had to go on! Shouts out to Bmore's own Carmen who was a winner from 'Wild Out Wednesday' and they opened up the show. Sean Garrett performed as well. Now mind you, I missed all of this because I locked my keys in my truck! #EpicFail!

By the time I got into the venue and made my way to the stage, Day26 were performing! Shouts out to The Urban Informer photographer, Joe Maye, for taking the pictures!

Hands down, Trey Songz KILLT his performance! Did all of his song (Black Roses, Say Aagh, LOL, Your Side of The Bed, I Need A Girl, and more)!

Now on the Mario absence, even though he lost his voice, I believe he still should have showed up and allowed his face to be seen. Hell, Que was sick and he still performed. Mario is the homey still, but just saying he had alot of folks upset. Get Well! No Shade!

Suprisingly, only 1 minor thing popped off backstage. It involed Willie of Day26! Willie was minding his own business backstage, and security tried to crack slick. It wasn't Willie's fault. You know how its ALWAYS 1 security guard that tries to OVER do it. Willie stood his ground against the other security guards, and then Day26 Bodyguards stepped in.

Urban Quickies: Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Tiny, and more!

Everybody loves a quickie every now and then....so let's jump right into it!

Jay-Z's North American tour kicks off tonight at Penn State University. Wale joins him on the jaunt, which will make 24 stops at a mix of college campus arenas and traditional venues. The tour wraps up November 22nd in Austin, Texas.


Snoop Dogg guest stars on tonight's episode of the new FOX sitcom Brothers, starring Michael Strahan and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell. Snoop tells AllHipHop.com,

"I'm their cousin that shows up, not supposed to but by accident. I went to jail once upon a time and came up on some things. I got my literature together, and now I'm a lawyer that represents my cousin Mike who's a football player trying to get his money back. I'm like the New Age Johnnie Cochran, with some pimp moves."

BET has renewed Tiny and Toya for a second season. (Runs to cancel his cable subscription) Tiny, who's still close with Xscape member Kandi Burruss -- says Burruss is "doing as to be expected," following the death of her former fiance Ashley "AJ" Jewell. She also is confirming rumors that once she dated Jewell herself.

"I did date him years ago and he was a cool guy, but I really don't wanna comment on what kind of man he was because I'm in a relationship that I respect to the fullest."

Tiny cleared that up REAL quick. She don't want to piss Tip off. She know Tip would have cancelled christmas with the QUICKNESS


With his debut disc Thank Me Later not due until next year, Drake says he'll likely release a few more mixtapes in the meantime. He tells MTV,

"I'm working every day, and...I get all the requests like, 'Oh, we can't wait to hear you and Jay[-Z] spit together, and we need another mixtape'... Sometimes you have to listen to them and give them what they want. So, that's my goal."

Drake says of his forthcoming debut,

"It's going to be a very interesting record because I'm really going to have to dig deep and tell stories that people can relate to. But it's kind of hard, because my life is at a very different place now."

I guess it is really in a different place now. First you were walking and you didn't want to follow your doctor's advice, and now your sitting!

Last night I fell asleep before the premiere of the Mo'Nique show on BET! I was sad that i missed it, but from the feedback Ive been getting from random folks, I didn't miss much!

And since we are talking about Mo'Nique! You know she stars in the new movie, Precious. She is a hometown hero, but I gotta keep it real. It's been rumored that Mo'Nique has been acting a bit diva-ish, already! First, Mo'Nique didn't show up at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote "Precious." Rumors ran amok that she snubbed the debut because Lionsgate wouldn't pay a $100,000 appearance fee plus fly her staff first class. Then her publicist promised Mo'Nique would attend the premiere of "Precious" at the New York Film Festival this past weekend, but again she was a no-show. Roger Friedman of Hollywood Reporter's Showbiz 411 reports that her publicist just quit "after trying to explain why Mo’Nique wasn’t coming."

A source tells the New York Daily News, "Mo'Nique said she signed on to do this film for a small amount of money. She said she didn't care about 'no Oscar' — all that mattered was 'those Benjamins!' Because Oprah and Tyler Perry are backing the film, she feels as though there should be a budget to pay for her promotional duties."

Mo'Nique, your a Queen of Comedy, not of acting. If this is the arena you want to be in, you gotta play the rules. At the same time, its 2-sides to every story. I want to hear what she has to say about it.
