Tyler Perry has chosen R&B superstar and nine-time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige to co-star in his next film, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself," due in theaters on Sept. 11.
Blige joins cast member Taraji P. Henson, who was nominated for an Oscar this year. The singer will play a nightclub manager and singer who is good friends with Henson's character.

The Lionsgate film, adapted from Perry's stage play, is currently shooting at his Atlanta Studios. The venerable and money-making Madea will also make an appearance, says the Hollywood Reporter.
